Teaching Today’s Youth to Adopt Entrepreneurship Qualities

What makes an entrepreneur? Is it motivation, drive? Is it doing what you love, regardless of the profit? In our latest podcast, Entrepreneurship & Small Business, our team of Strength Ambassadors discusses this and more, covering the impact that entrepreneurship has on the youth, and how it affects the community.
The Connection between Entrepreneurship and a Healthy Community
According to a study conducted by a group of sociology professors from Louisiana State University and Baylor University, a large population of small businesses in a community illustrates a positive correlation with health and wellness. What is the reason behind this? We believe that those who start small businesses tend to be more invested in their communities and harbor an inner strength and motivation that allows them to make the difference they’re seeking in the world. Our Strength Ambassadors believe that what it means to be an entrepreneur comes from a place of noticing problems in the world and finding ways to try to solve them. This kind of mindset can very naturally motivate someone in terms of other areas of their lives, as well. When they feel they are doing something meaningful, they are more likely to be happier, and to invest in their own wellness, as well.
Youth-Led Businesses
Because we understand the importance of embracing an entrepreneurship mindset, we have discussed some of the business ideas our Strength Ambassadors have pitched. Starting early with Baltimore’s youth could lead to the change we want to see. Their ideas, as expressed in the podcast, involve missions such as empowering young writers, providing access to nutrition and fitness education for those in impoverished communities, and a holistic approach to mental health and mentoring for Baltimore’s youth. Asking our Ambassadors to sit down and map out their business plans helped them to go through the process step by step, and find ways to make their goals a reality. With our young leaders spearheading such impactful ideas as these, it’s no wonder that an increased showing of entrepreneurship can create more paths for healthier, happier communities.
